
Welcome to the Visual Tellers Foundation 2025 Film Summer Camp, where our focus is to invest in our youth via the arts! Through our summer program, our campers will learn the ins and outs of what it takes to bring a creative vision to life. We guide the youth through each step of the creative process, resulting in a completed projects captured, produced, and edited by the campers. This year's theme is "staying focused"!
Now entering its seventh year, Visual Tellers Film Summer camp is one of Atlanta's most advanced creative camps for kids -- a one-week, real world experience concentrating on the arts. This award winning summer intensive program, introduces kids, ages 11 to 16, to the techniques, language and process of filmmaking and acting. From the scriptwriting process to the final edit, campers will get hands-on instruction in the crafts, all taught by industry professionals and educators. Campers form small crews to turn their creative concepts into high quality digital finished products during the week. The campers will learn from industry experts how to market and distribute their own projects!
Session 1: "Staying Focused" (July 7 - July 11) This week is dedicated to enhancing focus and mindfulness through the art of photography. Campers will learn photography basics and headshot techniques with guest counselor Lorenzo, compete in a photography contest, and participate in enriching off-site activities. These include yoga and drone photography at Piedmont Park, a nature hike and mental health discussions at Sweetwater Creek, and survival skills training (fire and shelter building) in Barnesville. The week culminates with a photo presentation, CPR training, and a fun trip to Spivey Splash Waterpark.
Session 2: "Marketing Morrow" (July 16 - July 20) This session immerses students in a real-world marketing challenge. Under Lorenzo's guidance, campers will learn graphic design, videography, and editing basics. Working in teams, they will develop a marketing campaign for the City of Morrow, visiting key locations to capture content. The week concludes with student teams presenting their campaigns to the Mayor's office, competing for the "best marketing" title, followed by a celebratory visit to Spivey Splash Waterpark.
